The phrase is a kinda suggestion that if a treat (like candy or instead of it money) is given, then the child will not perform a “trick” (bad behavior) on the owner of the house. This popular Halloween custom has its origins in the ancient practices of “souling” and “guising.” It is a fun if you can able to pass it so you could get nothing to harm from kids. But if you couldn’t do it so be prepared for the result in form of mischieving.
There is no age limit to do these kinds of stuff especially this tradition “Trick or Treat”. You’re never too old for trick-or-treating, so enjoy yourself, have fun, and be adventurous. Just have a creepy costume or pretend to be someone. It is the one night in a year when adults can let loose. Many parents dress up as a creepy monster or whatever they are willing to put on, then walk through the street carrying a bag, and go door-to-door trick-or-treating with their kids and expecting to receive a yummy treat.
Take a bag and create it like a treated bag. Fill Halloween candies on it. It should be dress up in a spooky costume. You can impersonate yourself as any superhero too, ring the doorbells of your neighbor. When someone answers your doorbell or a knock than say “BOO!!! and hand them the bag which says “You Just Tricked Or Treated!!”.
